Lisa BLACKPINK reportedly did not renew the contract with the agency that raised her name YG Entertainment.
The news was reported by Chinese media to Munhwa Ilbo on Tuesday (11/07/2023). Reporting from Munhwa Ilbo, Lisa BLACKPINK and YG Entertainment are in the discussion stage for contract renewal.
BLACKPINK’s Lisa and YG Entertainment’s contract will expire in August. But no agreement has been made, the two parties have differing opinions regarding the demands and conditions.

The source from the Chinese media told Munhwa Ilbo that there is a possibility that BLACKPINK’s Lisa may not renew her contract with YG Entertainment.
The reason is that the rapper group BLACKPINK is targeted to star in a Chinese television show. It’s just that YG Entertainment has not been able to confirm whether Lisa will appear.
“We have been working with Lisa and YG Entertainment to see if she can appear on our show, but they have informed us that it is difficult to discuss schedules following August due to uncertainty with contract renewals,” explained the Chinese source.
YG Entertainment Speaks Up
Following reports that shocked fans, YG Entertainment spoke up.
While not explaining BLACKPINK’s Lisa’s contract renewal, the agency confirmed that the request for the Chinese television show had nothing to do with her contract.

“It has nothing to do with the contract. It’s because of the BLACKPINK tour and personal schedule,” emphasized YG Entertainment.
YG Entertainment then issued a statement regarding the contract extension of BLACKPINK personnel to Xportnews.
“We are currently discussing (with all personnel) regarding renewing the contract.”
Munhwa Ilbo then reported that YG Entertainment’s contract extension negotiations with three other BLACKPINK personnel Jennie, Jisoo, and Rose were going smoothly. However, it does not explain whether Lisa BLACKPINK will continue the contract.
The BLACKPINK group schedule will be decided following YG Entertainment announces the contract status of each personnel.
