YG Entertainment announced on the 27th that the number of YouTube views for the music video of girl group BLACKPINK’s new song ‘Pink Venom’ has exceeded 200 million.
The music video, released on the 19th, surpassed 200 million views at 2:11 am on the same day.
This is the record for the first time in 7 days and 13 hours.
It is also the second fastest speed following the shortest period of 7 days and 46 minutes for a K-pop girl group to reach 200 million views, which BLACKPINK established with “How You Like That” in 2020.
The music video for ‘Pink Venom’ recorded 90.4 million views in the 24 hours following its release, breaking the world record for a female artist in 24 hours.
The song also succeeded in entering #22 on the UK’s official single chart ‘Top 100’, one of the world’s two largest charts along with US Billboard.
This is the eighth time BLACKPINK has entered the UK Official Singles Chart since ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ in June 2018.
Their highest ranking on this chart was #17, recorded in June 2020 with ‘Sour Candy’, a collaboration with pop star Lady Gaga.
‘Pink Venom’ is a hip-hop genre song with BLACKPINK’s unique charisma.
It starts with a traditional geomungo sound intro, and the sharp rap and piercing vocals convey the charm of the four members well.
