Developer Blackbird Interactive is reportedly experiencing yet another layoff. The Vancouver-based studio has laid off developers for the second time in six months, and as of now, the extent of the job losses is unclear. game developerFirst noticing the layoffs, they said several developers at the studio were taking to LinkedIn to confirm that they had been laid off from the company. A studio representative said : “Due to financial pressures beyond our control, we have had to take the unfortunate step of separating from some friends.
“This is part of a restructuring plan that is necessary as some of our partners have put new projects on hold. We looked at a number of ways to avoid this and unfortunately other options were not feasible. Due to the impact Team members are our BBI family, and we want to help them be fully prepared for the next stage of their careers. We offer a full suite of extended benefits and severance packages to help ease this transition.

In the last round of layoffs, more than 40 developers at the studio lost their jobs. The exact number of layoffs has not yet been determined. This also comes following Blackbird decided to delay Homeworld 3 from its original release date of March 8 to May 13.
