In the most recent 19 ice hockey league matches, the Steinbach Black Wings only remained without points twice – on October 27th at 2:3 in Villach and today in Szekesfehervar, where Janos Hari put the Hungarian “Red Devils” in the majority 151 seconds before the siren 2:1 (1:0, 0:1, 1:0) victory.
The decisive action was preceded by a two-minute penalty for Linz captain Brian Lebler for delaying the game. That hurts, especially since the EHC (without the sick Thomas Höneckl) was ahead in shots with 29:23. But nothing more than the interim 1:1 (37th) by Emilio Romig came out.
“It was a tough fight. We had our chances, the late penalty and the goal were the end of the story. Maybe we would have earned a point,” said Black Wings head coach Philipp Lukas. Defender Niklas Würschl, who will have the chance to rehabilitate with his colleagues at home against Bozen on Tuesday (7:15 p.m.), was also disappointed. “We had a difficult start, being outnumbered for five minutes. Unfortunately, we left too much behind.”
For Gerd Kragl, the match was over after just 321 seconds after a supposed knee check against Akos Mihaly (6th). The league lead is gone, defending champion Salzburg is the new first after a 6-2 win in Asiago.
