Activision revealed the first details of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 during its special stream regarding the game following the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, and since then, fans of the franchise are eager to learn more details regarding its story and gameplay in various modes such as multiplayer and zombies.
Now, Activision has announced dates for the multiplayer beta. Those who have pre-ordered the game or are a member of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass will have early access to the beta from August 30 to September 4.
The second weekend of the beta will open to all PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players from September 6-9.
This all kicks off two days following Call of Duty: Next (on August 28). Players will be able to experience Black Ops 6’s omni-movement for the first time, including 16 new maps created by Treyarch, create their own loadouts, access a variety of weapons, equipment and perks, and join their squad in a variety of modes.
It’s important to note that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 content will not carry over to Black Ops 6 during its two-week beta or at launch, making it a completely new experience. However, Warzone will feature content from MW2, MW3, and BO6.
What is the story of Black Ops 6?
Black Ops 6 is set in 1991 during the Gulf War, as confirmed by the developers during the reveal event on June 9. Frank Woods will feature heavily in the campaign, alongside his protégé Troy Marshall.
An official description of BO6 explains the campaign’s setting and time period: “As the Gulf War grips the world’s attention, a shadowy clandestine force has infiltrated the highest levels of the CIA, branding any who resist as traitors. Exiled from their agency and the country that once hailed them as heroes, covert operations veteran Frank Woods and his team find themselves hunted by the military machine that created them.”
Black Ops 6 follows the events that occurred in Black Ops Cold War, and the world is directly tied to the flashbacks of Black Ops 2.
Black Ops 6 launches October 25, 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, PC, and select Game Pass subscription tiers.
