“Black Box Cinema”… an ideal medium for breaking language barriers

The “Black Box Cinema”, one of the most popular corners of the 31st Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, will show 22 short films from 13 countries in an effort to spread the culture of cinema and provide a platform for its fans from all over the world to meet. The exhibition, organized by the Abu Dhabi Center, continues. For the Arabic language affiliated with the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center until May 29th. This year’s edition of the cinema increased its capacity from 50 to 70 people, yet its seats were filled with visitors of different ages and nationalities. Different categories of visitors to learn regarding Arab cinema.
Nawaf Al-Janahi, Emirati filmmaker and founder of “Black Box Cinema”, said: “This experience has turned into a cornerstone of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair since its launch in 2017, and provided a distinguished link between the audience and Arab culture, and given the wide popularity of the fair. We are expanding our activity to include literature audiences in order to introduce them to the art of short films.”

1700 viewers
Nawaf Al-Janahi said: Our annual agenda includes short Arab films, both fiction and documentary, and we constantly work to encourage people from different cultures to learn regarding Arab culture and the films presented here, and we receive approximately 1,700 viewers annually, and we expect this number to rise soon.
