BKL section in Moscow was closed due to the fact that the drilling machine rammed the tunnel

Deputy mayor in the Moscow government and head of the capital’s transport department Maxim Liksutov said that the reason for the traffic delay on the Big Circle Line (BKL) of the capital’s metro was a violation of safety rules at a commercial construction site.

“The drilling machine drilled a hole without any approval, which led to the release of clay and sand. The movement of trains on the outer side was stopped for the duration of the restoration work,” Maxim Liksutov explained.

The construction was organized by the Donstroy company without the necessary approvals. According to Mr. Liksutov, the metro appealed to the Investigative Committee of the capital and the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow, requested an inspection and initiation of a criminal case. “Such irresponsibility and negligence should not be repeated,” the deputy mayor said.

Today, March 13, traffic was suspended on the BKL section from the Novatorskaya station to Aminyevskaya due to the release of water and clay in the right tunnel on the stretch between Michurinsky Prospekt and Aminyevskaya. Because of this, the lining of the tunnel was damaged. By decision of the Moscow State Construction Supervision Authority, construction on the site above the tunnel was stopped until all the circumstances were clarified.
