Thanks to a bug, a Ring of Elden the player is seen riding a giant arrow in battle. FromSoftware’s latest dark fantasy RPG and legendary game of thrones author George RR Martin has become a smash hit since its launch a few weeks ago, earning critical acclaim and beating other major releases like Horizon: West forbidden and Pokemon Legends: Arceus to become the best-selling video game of 2022 in the United States so far. As a fully customizable Terni, players are tasked with collecting the lost fragments of the titular Elden Ring to become the legendary Elden Lord – a task easier said than done thanks to Ring of Eldenthe punishing difficulty and wide range of powerful enemies.
While a hugely successful and well-designed game for the most part, Ring of Elden is not without its share of technical setbacks. Some of these issues are relatively easy to fix, like certain enemies and NPCs becoming invisible unless a player has their graphics settings set a certain way. Others are more problematic, as was the case when a streamer was frozen in place during a tough boss battle once morest a giant ground octopus in Ring of Eldenopening hours. FromSoftware has been working on fixing these issues with update patches, but some really weird bugs and issues keep popping up during the rounds of Ring of Elden.
A much more humorous case happened to Reddit user Fosterkid115, who posted a brief gameplay video of their chance encounter with a strange glitch on the Ring of Elden subreddit earlier today. Their Tarnished is in the midst of a mounted battle with an axe-wielding giant, which results in the steed being killed by a blow from Fosterkid’s hulking enemy115. Fosterkid115 quickly summons a new horse following drinking a healing potion, but at the same time a second giant fires a massive arrow at the horse, killing it and leaving the player sitting on the weapon instead of their mount – leaving them completely vulnerable to the giant’s next attack and leading to red”You are dead” text that means death in Ring of Elden. The video currently stands at 6.6 thousand upvotes on r / Elden Anneauand other players in the comments section shared their own stories of suddenly finding themselves on top of a massive, motionless spire.
Getting caught in a weird glitch is just one of the many ways Ring of Elden players met an untimely end, as clips of Tarnished getting killed by seemingly harmless goats and dung beetles during or following a larger boss fight have since appeared on the internet. Ring of Elden launched at the end of last month. Some monsters even rubbed salt on the wound disrespecting a Ring of Elden the player’s corpse following killing it, and players seeking to pet stray dogs in the Lands Between also met a gruesome end.
Part of what made Ring of Elden such overnight success is the unpredictability that comes with every battle – and that apparently includes wild glitches like a tarnished horse suddenly being replaced by a massive arrow. Perhaps an unlucky warrior who encounters this bizarre bug might figure out how to use this oversized arrow as a weapon once morest the giant who threw it, but as of now there’s little Ring of Elden players can do more than hope that the next horse they summon is indeed a horse – lest they get stuck in front of an oncoming attack.
