Bitcoin may be legal tender in Arizona

Arizona Republican Senator Wendy Rogers has proposed such a bill presented in the United States, which would make bitcoin legal tender in the state of Arizona. The proposed bill would allow government entities to accept bitcoin, but would also allow people to pay taxes or debts in the largest cryptocurrency. This would mean that almost all transactions that might only be done in US dollars might be done in bitcoin.

Wendy Rogers seems to be running on the bitcoin bill every year

It is interesting that bitcoin is specifically mentioned in the bill. The creators describe it as a decentralized, peer-to-peer digital currency that operates independently of central banks. The acceptance section is pretty specific regarding how much bitcoin might be used for in the state of Arizona if the law is passed. Crypto supporter Wendy Rogers has tried something similar before. He also presented a similar bill in January 2022, but it actually bled to death in the second review and debate.

But Rogers isn’t giving up, even though there’s a slim chance the law will pass now. The fact is, however, that since the example of Salvador, we know that accepting bitcoin as a legal means of payment will certainly not cause harm. Opinions are divided on the positive effects, but quite a lot of development can be seen in the Central American country, which is thanks to BTC. Arizona isn’t the only one with strong support for bitcoin in the US. We saw similar movement at the legislative level in Texas, Mississippi and Missouri.
