Singer IU, who celebrated her birthday today (16th), donated 250 million won in the name of ‘IUANA’, a combination of herself and the official fandom ‘UAANA’.
IU posted a photo of the donation certificate on her official Twitter account on the same day. We donated 50 million won for single-parent families and young people preparing for self-reliance (Happiness Sharing Foundation) and 100 million won for underprivileged children in Korea (Heart-Heart Foundation). 50 million won each was donated to single mother families (Korea Association of Single Mothers and Families) and vulnerable seniors (Director of the Korea Vulnerable Elderly Support Foundation’s Comprehensive Support Center for the Elderly Living Alone).
IU expressed her gratitude to the fans, saying, “What I learned from UAENA, what I felt through UAENA, and what I received from UAENA will always be the material of practice that moves IU. I love you. Thank you very much today.”
IU continues to make donations in the name of ‘IUANA’ on meaningful days such as birthdays and debut days. Last year, she gave 200 million won to commemorate the 14th anniversary of her debut, 100 million won for those who suffered from flood damage in the summer, and donated 210 million won and 100 million won on her birthday and Children’s Day, respectively.
