Bipartisan Collaboration Against Sexual Exploitation: A Call to Action

I am writing in response to Scott Nelson’s recent letter concerning former State Senator Ray Holmberg, extending an invitation for bipartisan collaboration in the ongoing fight against sexual exploitation.

Nelson’s letter attempts to cast a wide net, tarnishing all Republicans in the court of public opinion before the proper legal process unfolds. This type of discourse, fueled by political motivations, distracts from the genuine issue at hand – the devastating impact of sexual exploitation and child pornography on our society.

Instead of these accusations, let’s work together on legislation. The alleged actions in the Holmberg case underscore broader societal problems which needs to be addressed.

There is a disturbing link between pornography, sexual addiction and sex trafficking. The Department of Defense states sex trafficking generates $99 billion annually, with 20% of victims being children.

Republicans introduced several pieces of legislation last session. Some passed, others didn’t. Removing pornography from school libraries, supporting parental rights over their child’s education and restrictions on drag queen story hours are some. These were all attempts to normalization sexualized lifestyle in our children.

Republicans also led the fight to prevent our children from undergoing gender changing operations and other gender confusion attempts.

The Holmberg indictment serves as a wake-up call for all of North Dakotans. It is crucial to address dishonest efforts to sexualization our youth.

Therefore, the Republican party invites the Democratic party, to join in this fight against sexual exploitation. Let us unite against all efforts which could harm the fabric of our families and the foundational values of our nation. These values are at the core of the North Dakota Republican Party platform, as we advocate for your faith, your family, and your freedom.
