Family and friends are desperately searching for Carolina Gómez, a 28-year-old biology student, who, according to the preliminary report, was dragged down a ravine in Barbosa (north of the Aburrá Valley), where she was carrying out activities for her degree work.
The academic work that the university student was carrying out is related to the sound of frogs, for which she had to travel to streams where these species lived, listen to their song and then record them, according to her father Mario de Jesús Gómez Soto.
To carry out this task went to the Barbosa ravine, close to the sector The beach, Along with some classmates from the University of Antioquia, where he develops his career. His father said that, apparently, in the ravine where they were there were some stones that made a path.
As the flow of the stream was low and the atmosphere was serene, Carolina and a friend took a few steps on the stones to get closer to the frogs and better record the sound they emitted, but out of nowhere a quantity of water and land came together that they took Carolina and one of her companions.
“The storm came and took my daughter and another girl who was there with herthe companion managed to grab onto a branch and managed to save herself, but my girl was caught by that storm and took her away, ”says the father.
“The ravines have the problem that when it rains a lot in the upper part, it is dammed somewhere and when they are released they come out destroying everything they find”, explains Gómez Soto, who also says that he found out what had happened to his daughter through a call when he was working at the company.
After finding out what had happened, he and his wife traveled from Marinilla (Eastern Antioquia), the student’s municipality of residence, to Barbosa to advance the search that has not stopped yet.
“They still don’t know anything regarding his whereregardings, we trust that it might have been saved, that someone helped her or that she is somewhere and we still haven’t noticed. We are very afraid that there is nothing to do, “said the young woman’s father, affected.
