The exhibition “IMPACT – Biodiversity in Questions”, presented at the Domaine Départemental de la Roche-Jagu from May 8 to October 6, 2024, offers an immersive exploration of the complex relationship between man and biodiversity.

An exhibition that raises awareness about the protection of biodiversity

Where do we come from ? What is our place in evolution? Do we have the capacity to control nature? What impact do humans really have on the Earth? Designed by the Natural History Museum of Toulouse, this exhibition is distinguished by its eco-responsible commitment, made from 95% recycled wood.

Through a chronological journey, the exhibition examines the evolution of life on Earth, highlights mass extinctions, explores the current biodiversity crisis and envisions the future of ecosystems. Themes covered include the influence of consumption patterns, the transition to more ecological lifestyles, natural resilience and future scenarios. The main objective is to raise visitors’ awareness of the protection of biodiversity.

The departmental estate of Roche-Jagu

With its 43 hectares of forests and 18 hectares of grassy gardens, it offers an ideal setting for this exhibition. The estate’s long-term commitment to environmental preservation anchors the experience in a site steeped in history.

In addition to the traveling exhibition, the Domaine offers a specific section highlighting the local biodiversity. A dedicated room presents the remarkable species of fauna and flora, as well as the ecological management practices implemented, such as the installation of beehives and the creation of environments conducive to the development of biodiversity.

Outdoor landscaping, designed for the event, includes the “Jardin des Terrasses” illustrating various types of gardens, the “Champ des Moissons” dedicated to ancient cereals, and a diversified hedge. Existing spaces, such as the Retting Basins, the Palm Grove and the Salt Marshes, are also highlighted to highlight the biodiversity of the site.
