Asuncion, IP Agency.- The construction of the Bioceanic Bridge, which will link Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay with Puerto Murtinho in Brazil over the Paraguay River, continues to advance at a good pace. According to the latest report presented by the contractor, significant progress has been recorded, especially on the Paraguayan side.
On the Paraguayan side, work is currently focused on Pylon 13, one of the main structures of the bridge. Construction crews are erecting the formwork and the platform for the starting segment on both sides of this pylon. These tasks are crucial for the stability and strength of the structure.
Meanwhile, on the Brazilian side, the assembly of the 96 girders planned for this section of the bridge has already been completed. Work is progressing simultaneously on several sections, with activities including the concreting of the girder beams, the placement of reinforcements and the assembly of pre-slabs in various spans.
This bridge is a key part of the Bioceanic Road Corridor, an ambitious project that seeks to connect the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through the Paraguayan Chaco. The project will not only improve physical connectivity between Paraguay and Brazil, but will also boost regional integration and economic development in South America.
This initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) with resources from Itaipú Binacional, represents an outstanding example of cooperation. The work is being carried out by the Binational Consortium PYBRA.
