Bingerville – The Bingerville General Hospital organized three days of awareness once morest diabetes in seniors (65 and over) from May 12 to 14, 2022.
Beginning with a conference on the theme “Aging and metabolic diseases: the case of diabetes”, these days served as a framework for Dr Joachim Dangny, internist-diabetologist, while sounding the alarm bell on the dangerousness and irreversibility of this pathology due to poor diet, to provide advice on good habits to adopt, in particular the reduction of sugar and the regular practice of sport.
To this end, a day of sports and another for screening for diabetes in the elderly filled the rest of the days at Bingerville General Hospital.
The purpose of these days was to announce to the populations in general and to the elderly, the very imminent opening of a diabeto-geriatric service within the general hospital of Bingerville. What they strongly desire, complaining of being received as a general practitioner, thereby creating a slowness in their reception.
According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2017, regarding diabetes, the prevalence rate is estimated at around 6.2% among the Ivorian population.
