CHAIRMAN of the DPR Democratic Party Fraction Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono alias Ibas hopes that the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) can continue to maintain its neutrality. This was conveyed when Ibas attended the fit and proper test for the candidate for Head of BIN, Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Muhammad Herindra in the DPR Commission I meeting room.

“We must have a commitment regarding BIN’s neutrality in maintaining power so that it does not spill over into the political and civil realm, in which case, BIN is expected to remain focused on its main role and function, namely its duties for the security of the nation and state,” said Ibas in a written statement, Wednesday (16 /10).

BIN is also expected to be able to coordinate intelligence between fellow institutions listed in the Intelligence Law. Including exercising effective and efficient communication skills.

Apart from that, BIN under Herindra’s leadership must be able to make decisions based on accurate information. So, it does not endanger state sovereignty.

“The head of BIN must be able to make the right decisions and not be based on wrong information because it could endanger the integrity and sovereignty of the country,” said Ibas.

The deputy chairman of the MPR is confident that Herindra will be able to maintain BIN’s authority. This institution will be responsible and not misuse it for the interests of certain groups.

“I am sure Mr. Herindra is friendly so that BIN’s authority must remain accountable, not misused for the interests of certain groups,” he concluded. (Fah/I-2)
