Billy Idol stops concert due to incidents outside the Caupolicán: “We will pause to breathe” | arts and culture

This Thursday night the singer Billy Idol debuted in Chile with his first concert at the Caupolican Theaterall this within the framework of “The Roadside Tour 2022”.

However, almost half an hour from the start, the artist had to stop the show due to incidents at the north entrance of the theater and smoke emanations that made the singer cough in full presentation.

Behind this, the production decided to remove him from the stage for a few moments, calling on the audience to remain calm. “We are going to take a break so that the artist can breathe a little,” they reported.

The concert was attended by nearly 5,000 people and some also felt the effects of the smoke, as reported by BioBioChile from the event. Through loudspeakers, from production they assured that Billy Idol was willing to resume the show, at the same time that they thanked the wait and detailed that the situation had not gone too far. The concert, in turn, resumed its course half an hour later.

At first, it was announced from the stage that it might be smoke from tear gas, a fact that was later denied by production and by workers on the premises.

From Lotus, the producer in charge of the concert, they pointed out that “people without tickets” tried to enter the theater being repelled with smoke from fire extinguishers by the guards stationed in the building. “(Then) there was a pause for air”they explained.

Billy Idol’s first time in Chile

Billy Idol, the former leader of Generation X, stands out today as one of the most revered rock artists of the 1980s. And this year, he arrived in Chile as part of his world tour “The Roadside Tour 2022”.

With his first self-titled album, ‘Billy Idol’, released in 1982, he began an instant success that was fueled by the single “White Wedding”.
