The CAC 40 is in full emulation this Tuesday morning. The French media and communication group Vivendi has lost more than 7% since the opening of the Paris Stock Exchange. In question, the transfer of many titles by Vincent Bolloré, operated a few days ago. According to notifications published yesterday by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), the Breton businessman, via Compagnie de Cornouaille, sold, on May 16, for just over 1.5 million shares of Vivendi (at an average price of 9.5708 euros). The valuation of the French media group, 29% owned by the Bolloré group, has now reached 9.5 billion euros.
For now, it is still difficult to analyze the intentions of the businessman. With the upcoming sale of the Bolloré Group’s logistics activities to the shipowner CMA-CGM, many observers and analysts believe that it might be tempted in the coming months to buy a good part of Vivendi’s capital and take it out of the Paris Stock Exchange.

“This sale of shares means that the group should not launch a public offer in the coming weeks when shares are canceled by Vivendi”, estimate today the analysts of ODDO BHF, warning that other disposals should take place in the coming days. However, they remain convinced that Vivendi “remains a medium-term target for Bolloré, even if this message makes the situation more confusing”.
Vivendi is in the process of taking control of the Lagardère group, whose three activities (Hachette Livre, Lagardère News and Travel Retail) generated 7 billion euros in sales last year. The group hopes to obtain the approval of the European Commission on June 14.
