A nursery school teacher named Peerumedu Pampanar Pampakada Anumole was killed by her husband Bijesh Benny in Perhumkandath. The police said that Anumol, a nursery school teacher in Kanchiyar Pallikawala, collected and kept Rs 10,000 from Bijesh’s students and did not return it following spending it.
After discussing Anumol’s complaint in the women’s cell on March 12, Bijesh went to his home in Vengalurkada. After staying in Perhumkandam for two days, Anumol went to school from his relative’s house in Mattukatta. On 17th, Bijesh and Anumol reached Perhumkandam home at 7pm. Then there was an argument between them. Meanwhile, their child (5 years old) slept.
Anumole Bijesh, who was sitting on a chair in the hall at nine o’clock in the night, choked herself by tying her shawl around her neck. When he pulled back, Anumol hit his head and fell to the ground. He pulled the shawl around his neck and took him to the bedroom. To commit suicide, Anumol’s left wrist was cut off with a blade following being placed on the bed.
Police also said that Bijesh tried to commit suicide by tying the shawl to the window wire and tying it around his neck. He also tried to cut his wrist. When this failed, he took off Anumol’s gold ornaments and slept with his daughter in the next room. The next morning, the body was dragged to the ground, wrapped in a blanket and moved under the bed. Later Anumol’s phone was sold. The police said that the gold ornaments were pawned for Rs 11,000 each.
The case was investigated by a team led by Kattappana DySP VA Nishadmon, Kattappana SHO Vishal Johnson, Kumali SHO Jobin Antony and Kattappana Principal SI K. Dilip Kumar. The court remanded the accused in police custody for 6 days.
