Big Update Coming to Halo Infinite: Networking Overhaul, Weapon Balance Improvements, Anti-Cheat, and More!

A major new update is coming to Halo Infinite on March 19th, bringing with it a host of highly anticipated improvements. The community has been vocal regarding their desire for changes, and the developers have listened. This update will address some of the biggest requests from players, including a networking overhaul, weapon balance tunings, bug fixes, stability improvements, and anti-cheat measures.

The networking overhaul is a significant update that aims to improve the online experience for players. The developers have recognized the feedback regarding desync and issues such as being shot around corners. Previous updates attempted to address these problems, but they did not have the desired impact. As a result, the team made the decision to pursue a fundamental change to the underlying networking model. After months of work, they are confident that this updated model will lead to a better and more consistent multiplayer experience.

Another exciting addition in this update is the implementation of Easy Anti-Cheat. Cheating has been a persistent issue in online gaming, and Halo Infinite is not immune to it. Easy Anti-Cheat is a tool that monitors players’ game files while they’re playing to ensure fair play and combat cheating. With the March Update, the detection and enforcement capabilities will be enhanced, greatly improving the game’s overall security. Players are encouraged to report any instances of cheating using the in-game reporting feature or through Halo Support.

Squad Battle, a beloved playlist in Halo Infinite, is also getting a refresh. The playlist will now feature seven new maps created by talented Forgers. Among these maps are returning classics like Halo 4’s Perdition and Halo CE’s Timberland, as well as brand new maps for players to enjoy. This update aims to provide players with a fresh and exciting experience in Squad Battle.

Weapon tuning is another key aspect of this update. The developers have addressed community feedback and made several changes to improve the balance of weapons in the game. For example, the Plasma Pistol’s single-shot functionality has become the primary way players use the weapon, leading to an imbalance. To address this, the charge-up time has been made faster, and the rate of fire for single shots has been slightly decreased. These changes aim to maintain the weapon’s effectiveness while adding more precision requirements for long-range shots.

The Gravity Hammer has also undergone significant changes. Previously, it was a force to be reckoned with, but adjustments have been made to strike a better balance. The damage and knockback of the Gravity Hammer have been increased, placing it between its pre-Season 5 strength and recent months’ power. This adjustment should make encounters with the Gravity Hammer less overwhelming while still maintaining its intimidating presence on the battlefield.

In addition to these updates, the March Update also introduces Firefight Custom, a new mode that allows for more customization and creativity for Forge mode enthusiasts. This “blank” Firefight mode retains the structure of Firefight: King of the Hill but removes the logic related to hills. Mode scripters will have full control over various aspects of the mode, such as win conditions, skull earning, and spawner triggers. These changes empower Forgers to create unique PvE experiences and promote the sharing of custom modes among map creators.

Aside from the gameplay changes, the update also includes quality of life improvements and bug fixes. Forge mode will receive numerous bug fixes, notably improving copy protection for maps and modes to reduce plagiarism and ensure creators receive proper credit. Additionally, stability improvements have been made based on player feedback and in-game telemetry data, addressing crash issues.

These updates in the March Update for Halo Infinite mark a significant step forward in providing an enhanced gaming experience for players. The networking overhaul, weapon balance tunings, anti-cheat measures, Squad Battle refresh, and other improvements all contribute to a more enjoyable and fair gameplay experience. The developers’ ongoing commitment to listening to player feedback and
