The police of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) state of Dubai, while ensuring the safety and security of the people, arrested 8 Israelis in just three hours for killing their own countryman.
Interestingly, the Dubai Police closed the investigation of the case by arresting the two main suspects within just three hours of the murder incident and all eight suspects within just 24 hours.
According to the Arab newspaper ‘Gulf News’, in a statement issued by the Dubai Police on social media, it was confirmed that all the Israeli suspects were arrested in just 24 hours.
Dubai Police, while releasing photos of the accused, said that all the men are close relatives and had a long-standing feud with the Israeli man who was killed.
According to the police, there was a long-standing dispute between the two families over property and on May 6 this month, the victim’s family killed a member of the accused’s family, for which the accused traveled to Dubai to take revenge.
All eight suspects, who had entered Dubai via European countries, killed a 33-year-old man with a sharp knife outside a cafe in a busy area of the city, Dubai Police said.
The police said that the accused also tortured the victim before the murder.
Police said that advanced technology like cameras and facial recognition technology were used to nab the accused and the two prime accused were arrested just three hours after the murder was reported.
After the arrest and investigation of the two main accused, the remaining 6 accused were also arrested within 24 hours and produced in the court and the investigation of the case was closed.
Now the murder case against all the Israeli suspects will go to court.
On the other hand, The Times of Israel also confirmed the arrest of 8 Israeli citizens in the case of murder in Dubai.
According to the newspaper, this is the first time since the UAE and Israel restored diplomatic relations at the end of 2020 that Israelis have been arrested for murder in Dubai.
The UAE and Israel also agreed in August 2020 to normalize bilateral relations, to enter into government-level banking and business agreements.
After the agreement between the two countries, flights between them also started in November 2020 and since then dozens of Israelis have been going to other states of the UAE including Dubai for tourism and other purposes every month.
Just three years after the restoration of relations between the two countries, the Israelis’ killing of their compatriots in Dubai sparked a wave of concern.
