In the distance duel between him and Victor Wembanyama this season, Scoot Henderson was rather tough with big performances on the G-League floors. However, its recent news might upset the course of the Draft 2023!
For his second season with the pros, he has achieved very good things so far, even managing to hold the comparison with his enemy No. 1. Victor Wembanyama’s announced rival for the 2023 NBA Draft, Scoot Henderson is posting solid averages of 21.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 47.1% from 3 points in the G-League. However, its status in the projections of experts is increasingly precarious.
Injured, Scoot Henderson fixed on the rest of the season
If he meets expectations from an individual point of view since the start of the season, Henderson struggles on the other hand to train his team in his wake. So much so that the scouts are worried regarding its collective impact and are starting to pose a great threat to him. His case even got worse last November 18, during the game between the Ignite Team and the Salt Lake City Stars:
Scoot Henderson suffered what looked like a facial/head injury and is not on the court for the second half. Good opportunity for Mojave King here to get some reps. https://t.co/ivigzQteGJ

“Really scandalous”: the Victor Wembanyama controversy continues to swell!
A blunder which the young American fullback would certainly have done without, and which therefore not only prevented him from taking part at the end of this meeting… but also in the following four matches. What to worry regarding the nature and severity of his injury. After passing some tests, it finally turns out that his period of unavailability should not prove too detrimental. Cody Taylor relates:
Scoot Henderson is suffering from a broken nose and will return any day, G-League Ignite spokeswoman Mara Rudolph said. (…) The 18-year-old was subjected to the concussion protocol and missed his team’s last 4 games. His recovery is going well, so much so that he might be available for the reception of the South Bay Lakers next Sunday at the Dollar Loan Center.
More fear than harm therefore for Henderson, who should not miss more than two weeks of competition. A priori able to hold its rank on the rest of the G-League season, the American risks on the other hand wearing protection, which might in particular reduce his field of vision. Not ideal for an altruistic player like him, and whose qualities as a playmaker make observers salivate!
If he can therefore defend his place in the Top 2 of the next Draft in the days and weeks to come, Scoot Henderson might still be handicapped by his nose injury, and the equipment that goes with it. A saga that will be one to watch!
