According to our colleagues from Sudinfo, two girls aged 10 and 12 would have remained stuck in the fire. The house is home to a family of five children and two adults.
The fire reportedly started around 8 a.m. on the first floor of the house. The emergency services of the area, Armentières and Heuvelland intervened to extinguish the fire, the cause of which is unknown for the moment. Unfortunately, the firefighters might only note the death of two girls aged 10 to 12 who were sleeping in the attic. The parents and a 16-year-old boy were able to come out of the blaze alive; he had to be hospitalized.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office goes on site for the first findings. The medical examiner was also expected on the spot where the hour was to consternation.
