Massive drug bust in Saudi Arabia. 50 arrested, including Indians Border security forces seized more than 2.5 lakh pills and 39 tonnes of banned narcotics. Attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics into areas such as Jizan, Najran, Azir and Makkah were thwarted by Saudi border guards. Fifty suspects have been arrested, including 23 foreigners and 27 Saudi nationals for violating border security arrangements. One of the arrested is an Indian. The security forces arrested 10 Ethiopians, six Bangladeshis, four Yemenis and two Somalis.

Attempts were made to smuggle drugs into the country through the maritime borders. A total of 2,79,010 amphetamine tablets, 330 kg of hashish and 39 tonnes of narcotics were seized. The Border Security Force said it had taken preliminary legal action once morest them and handed them over to those concerned for further action.
