Paris Saint-Germain found itself at the heart of a tax scandal following revelations from Mediapart, implicating the Minister of Action and Public Accounts at the time, Gérald Darmanin. According to reports, the club benefited from assistance from Darmanin to avoid heavy taxes during the transfer of Neymar in 2017, sparking the reaction of MEP Manon Aubry.
Mediapart reported last week that PSG would have avoided paying significant taxes on Neymar’s record transfer (222 million euros) thanks to the influence of Gérald Darmanin, who allegedly acted as tax advisor to the detriment of the Treasury audience.
