Big Brother’s Rating Struggles: Analysis by JC Rodríguez and the Future of Chilean Television

It is no mystery to anyone that Big Brother is one of Chilevisión’s main bets this 2023. The channel located in Machasa put all the chips in a space that had high expectations of what might happen in terms of rating.

For the same reason, almost three weeks following its premiere, it was JC Rodríguez himself who made an in-depth analysis of what is happening with the competition.

“The program is interesting and entertaining, it is constantly evolving, we have a 360 that is brutal, because I believe that Chilean television has never had that, and it seems to me that we are opening a portal to the future,” he revealed in dialogue with Page 7 the face of Chilevisión, who cleared up any kind of bad vibes with Diana Bolocco, as has been speculated in Farandulandia.

“I think that in terms of entertainment this is what is coming (…) that is, imagine that it has been downloaded more than a million times Pluto TV. On Tuesday I was doing Big Brother and my children and his classmates were watching it, but they were all watching it on the computer or on the phone, ”he stressed.

Regarding the program’s rating, he clarified that “the number of points that remain available for open television now are minimal. People go to see their series, movies, etc. What happens is that you have to understand that even television people operate with the head of television, all of us would like to score 50 rating points, but we have to make this mentality change”.

In addition, the also driver of Contigo in the morning made a comparison with other spaces to analyze what is happening in the tevi industry.

“A soap opera will not survive in Chile if it is not made for a television channel and a platform, it will not be able to be financed, because, even if it is the first tune, they will not give it the amount of money it needs to be made,” explained.

“It is the new thing that there is, before a trend marked 32 or 33 points, now with 12 it is a success”, JC complemented.
