Following the Magdalena Medio Security Council held this Monday, October 7, in the municipality of Puerto Nare, Governor Andrés Julián Rendón Cardona announced a series of strategies to improve security in that important subregion of the department.

One of the most relevant will be the integration of the video cameras of 500 commercial establishments with the monitoring center of the Departmental Security Node. This will reinforce the control and judicialization tasks in the different municipalities of Antioquia.

“We are going to carry out a pilot to link technological devices that already exist in many commercial establishments to the Security Nodes, in order to generate more deterrence or to carry out prosecutions in cases where criminal acts occur,” said Governor Rendón after finishing the meeting with the mayors of Magdalena Medio and the commanders of the Public Force with jurisdiction in the area.

The mayor of Puerto Nare, Juan Carlos Acevedo, applauded the initiative of the departmental government and said that with this strategy they will be able to improve not only the security of their municipality but also of the region.

“We talk about the security circuit, its strengthening, investment in technology, that we need here in the municipality and in the region,” he added.

Other strategies

Governor Rendón asked, in turn, increase citizen security fronts and support networks so that, with radios and telephones, the community is the “eyes and ears of the Public Force.” At the same time, he requested the activation of the Antioquia Segura Military and Police Squadron (Empás) for Magdalena Medio.

Likewise, the president announced the expansion of the ‘Jóvenes Pa’ Lante’ strategy in more municipalities of Magdalena Medio to, in this way, prevent them from being co-opted by criminal structures, either for the commission of crimes or the consumption of psychoactive substances.

“Avoid linking minors to the consumption of psychoactive substances, to delinquency at an early age and also to mitigate mental health problems,” he concluded.
