BIG boss Weiss moves to real estate group Soravia

Where will BIG boss Hans-Peter Weiss end up? As reported, there was recently speculation in the Austrian real estate scene about a move to Soravia or Red Bull and thus to Mark Mateschitz. Now it’s clear: the decision was made in favor of Soravia.

As of October, Weiss will be managing director of Soravia Holding, heading the group’s real estate division with real estate assets under management of almost five billion euros – in close cooperation with Erwin Soravia, it is said. The company confirmed this to OÖNachrichten on Thursday morning.

Weiss’ focus will be on “further development into a digital and innovative real estate investment group”. The Vienna-based company Soravia, whose roots go back around 140 years, is one of the largest real estate groups in Austria and Germany with a realized project volume of around 7.6 billion euros. Including all its investments, Soravia employs around 4,200 people.

Weiss has been managing director of the state-owned Federal Real Estate Company (BIG) for around 14 years. In February it was announced that the 53-year-old from Burgenland would be leaving the company at the end of September.

“Apart from the very valuable addition to our team, I also see this as confirmation of the success of the measures we have taken in recent years to position ourselves in sought-after, profitable areas with stable cash flow,” says Erwin Soravia. Weiss explains what he plans to do: “Think holistically about real estate – from digital service offerings to our own, sustainable energy supply concepts.”
