Commander, the US President’s dog, has attracted attention because of his unusual willingness to bite.
More than a dozen bite attacks have been recorded, often on family bodyguards.
Now the two-year-old shepherd has to leave the White House. His future is uncertain.
After he several employees bitten Joe Biden’s dog Commander has to leave the White House. The Biden family sent the two-year-old German Shepherd to an undisclosed location while she considers the next steps for the animal, a White House spokeswoman said.
The channels CNN and Axios had previously reported that Commander, who moved into the White House as a puppy in 2021, is said to have bitten more people than was initially known. The US Secret Service reported that eleven agents had been bitten – but according to CNN this number is higher, and other White House employees were also injured by bites. In one case, a victim even had to be treated in hospital.
Already Major flew out of the White House
“The safety of White House employees (…) is very important to the President and First Lady,” said Elizabeth Alexander, spokeswoman for Jill Biden. “They are grateful for the patience and support of the U.S. intelligence community and all involved as they continue to work toward solutions,” she added. “Commander is currently away from the White House grounds while next steps are evaluated,” Alexander said.
Also major, another German Shepherd the Bidens, made headlines with a biting incident following moving to the White House and was then temporarily sent to the US President’s private home in Delaware. He later stayed with family friends.
