It happened at a fire station in Shanksville, the Pennsylvania town where United Flight 93 crashed on September 11, 2001.
Twenty-three years after the attacks committed by Al Qaeda, Joe Biden went to the place to defend the unity of the country, explained Andrew Bates, spokesman for the White House.
“President Joe Biden talked about the bipartisan unity of the country after 9/11 and said we need to get back to that,” Bates posted on the social media network X.
“As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter, who then said that in the same spirit, (Biden) should wear his Trump hat,” he added.
The president “briefly” put it over his own, the spokesman explained.
