(Archyde.com, Hanoi, 10th) U.S. President Biden said today that he had met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, which was his highest-level direct meeting with the Chinese leadership in recent months. He also pointed out that China’s economic turmoil will not lead to China’s invasion of Taiwan.

Archyde.com reported that Biden told reporters: “My team, my staff, is still meeting with President Xi Jinping’s people and his cabinet. I met with his No. 2 (Li Qiang) in India today.”

Li Qiang became the Premier of the State Council of China in March this year, rising to the second-ranking figure in the CCP, and replaced Xi Jinping at the Group of 20 (G20) Summit held in New Delhi, India.

Biden said that he and Li Qiang discussed stability and southern hemisphere issues. He alleged that China’s economy is in trouble due to a lack of international growth, but he did not think this would lead to China taking action to change Taiwan’s status quo.

Biden said: “I don’t think this will lead to China’s invasion of Taiwan. In fact, on the contrary, I’m afraid China no longer has the capabilities it did before.” Central News Agency (translation)
