Biden US Government Supports Solar Sector Presidential Decree-Promoting Domestic Production Expansion-Bloomberg

US President Joe Biden issued a presidential directive to support the US solar sector on the 6th. With the aim of reviving clean energy projects stagnant due to trade disputes and expanding domestic production, we will reduce our dependence on foreign suppliers in climate change initiatives.

Mr. Biden will suspend new import tariffs on solar equipment from four Southeast Asian countries for two years, removing the threat of retroactive tariffs that have frozen the construction of renewable energy projects across the United States. At the same time, the “Defense Production Act” will be enforced to support domestic clean energy-related producers such as solar panels.

The move aims to support the often conflicting political priorities of fighting climate change and fostering domestic solar-related manufacturing, which has struggled to compete with cheap imports. Mr Biden’s actions mean the possibility of working on both at the same time.
