Biden sets condition for withdrawing from presidential race

This came in an interview with BET News, excerpts of which were broadcast Tuesday, in response to a question regarding whether there was anything, including family members, that would make him reconsider remaining in the presidential race.

“If I have a medical condition, if doctors come to me and say you have this or that problem,” Biden said.

“When I originally ran, you may remember, I said I was going to be a transitional candidate. I thought I would be able to step away from this and pass it on to someone else. But I didn’t anticipate things would become this divided,” he added.

“Honestly, I think the only thing age brings is some wisdom,” he continued. “I think I’ve proven that I know how to get things done for the country, despite the fact that we’ve been told we can’t do it. We’ve done it, but there’s still a lot to do, and I’m reluctant to walk away from that.”

Earlier, Biden said he would not withdraw from the election race unless God told him to do so.

After Biden failed in the first televised debate with Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump at the end of last month, pressure began to mount in the Democratic camp to push Biden to abandon his presidential ambitions and make way for another candidate more capable of confronting Trump in the November 5 presidential election.
