Biden Renews Call for Gasoline Price Cuts – Bloomberg

U.S. President Joe Biden has called on oil companies to cut petrol retail prices once more. Gasoline prices have come down from their peak this summer, but they’re clearly still a bane for the president.

“International oil prices fell last month,” Biden said at a White House competition council meeting. It’s a huge profit,” he said.

Crude oil futures in New York fell 9.2% in August, while retail gasoline prices fell 9.2% in the same month, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA). However, as the president pointed out, gasoline prices vary greatly by region, and are clearly higher in western states where refining capacity is lower.

“My message is simple: to the companies that operate gas stations and set retail prices, cut prices to reflect their costs, and do it now,” Biden said.
