Biden is open to reconsidering re-election if his health requires it

In an interview published on Wednesday, Ed Gordon of Bet News asks Biden if there is anything that might make him reconsider whether he should still be in the presidential election campaign.

– If I had any kind of medical condition that arose, if anyone, if doctors came to me and said you have this problem and this problem, Biden answered according to a short excerpt that the TV channel has made public.

The interview was recorded on Tuesday. Bet News specifically targets the black population in the United States.

So imagine a transition

Biden says in the interview that he envisioned being a “transitional candidate” when he first ran in 2020.

– I thought that I might pass the baton on to someone else, but I did not imagine that our country would become so divided, says Biden in the interview.

The president also repeated that he was tired during the debate once morest Donald Trump. Biden has previously emphasized that he had traveled a lot ahead of the debate.

– I also believe that age brings wisdom, and I have shown how to get things done. But there is still more to do, and I will not turn my back on it, says Biden to Bet News.

The entire interview will be published on the night of Thursday.

Schiff tells Biden to resign

In recent weeks, approximately 20 Democratic politicians have asked Biden to withdraw from the presidential campaign. A messy debate once morest Donald Trump in June caused many to question the 81-year-old president’s abilities.

The last in the line is Adam Schiff, who has sat in the House of Representatives for California since 2001. He was also the prosecutor in the first impeachment case once morest Donald Trump.

– If Trump gets another term, it will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I am very worried regarding whether the president can beat Trump in November, says Schiff, according to the newspaper Los Angeles Times.

Biden has so far shown no signs of wanting to resign.

Virtual voting

A poll published Wednesday showed that nearly two out of three Democrats believe Biden should withdraw from the presidential campaign. Disregarding party affiliation, 7 in 10 Americans say the same, according to the poll conducted by the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

At the same time, information has arrived that the Democratic Party will hold a virtual vote to officially nominate Biden as its presidential candidate. They will do that in the first week of August, several weeks before the Democrats’ national meeting.

A letter seen by Reuters shows that several Democrats in Congress are strongly critical of this.
