US President Joe Biden has no plans to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. He considers a possible meeting at the G20 summit pointless. He stated this in an interview CNNpublished October 11th.
Biden called the Russian leader a “rational player” and his goals in Ukraine “ridiculous.”
“I think he’s a rational player who miscalculated a lot,” Biden said.
“I think he assumed that he would be welcomed with open arms, that this is the home of Mother Russia in Kyiv, <...> and I think he just completely miscalculated,” Biden added.
Asked if Putin would use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, Biden would say he doesn’t expect it. Nevertheless, the US authorities are discussing the possibility of such a development of events. But Biden refused to talk about what the consequences for Russia could be if nuclear weapons were used.
