In a highly anticipated press conference, the president of the USAJoe Biden has reaffirmed his commitment to seek re-election. He said that even NATO leaders have urged him to stay in order to win the November election once morest former Republican President Donald Trump.
Despite his insistence, two verbal gaffes – one during a meeting with NATO leaders and his allies, and another at his first solo press conference since November – do little to dispel doubts regarding whether he has the capacity to govern for another four years, until he is 86, if he wins the election.
Biden insists on continuing the campaign despite his mistakes
First, Biden misrepresented Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin” and referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump” at the start of his press conference.
“I haven’t had any European ally come to me and say, Joe, don’t run. What I hear them saying is, you have to win,” Biden said at a press conference on the final day of the NATO summit in Washington.
The president thus attempted to take advantage of the support of allied leaders to strengthen his position and highlight differences with Trump, who has been highly critical of NATO.
