US President Joe Biden was “not surprised” but said he was “outraged” by the death of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, who he said might have lived safely in exile but chose to return to Russia.
“He stood up courageously once morest corruption, violence and all the bad things that Putin’s administration is doing,” Biden said in his speech. “Putin is responsible for Navalny’s death,” he said.
The White House “doesn’t know exactly” what took Navalny’s life and is seeking more information regarding what happened. “I don’t know exactly what happened to Navalny but there is no doubt that his death was a consequence of (the actions of) Putin and his killers,” Biden said.
