Biden addresses nation explaining why he is withdrawing from presidential race

The White House said Biden will speak to the American people about why he decided to withdraw from the race and what he intends to focus on during the remaining six months of his first term, indicating that he will deliver his speech from the Oval Office.

Biden was seen in public for the first time in six days on Tuesday at Dover Air Force Base as he returned to Washington, D.C., from his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

He answered a question from reporters at Dover Air Force Base, saying he was “feeling good” after testing negative for COVID-19.

Biden has not been seen in public since last week. His only public comments about his decision to withdraw from the presidential race came on Monday during a brief phone call at the campaign headquarters of Vice President Kamala Harris, now the presumptive Democratic nominee.

After returning to the White House, Biden will receive his daily briefing at 3 p.m. He has no public events on his schedule.

Biden is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tomorrow, Thursday, at the White House.

Today, Netanyahu will address Congress, although Harris declined to lead the speech, according to the Washington Post. Before leaving Israel, Netanyahu said that his country would stand with the United States “regardless of who the American people choose to be their next president.”

Netanyahu also asked to meet Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump this week, and the latter confirmed that the meeting would be held at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
