An Associated Press-NORC poll finds that regarding half of US Democrats want to see President Joe Biden run once more in 2024, and that a majority will support him if he becomes a candidate.

The Associated Press-NORC Public Affairs Research Center poll indicates that 26% of Americans want to see Biden run once more, up from 22% who gave that response in January.

The study shows 47% of Democrats saying they want Biden to run, also up from 37% in January.

About 78% of respondents said they approved of the work Biden is doing as president.

Among Democrats, 81% said they were likely to support Biden in a general election if he was nominated, 41% would, and 40% would likely support.

The data is revealed as Biden prepares to announce his re-election in 2024 next week, according to sources quoted by the Associated Press (AP).

Biden is betting that once voters are given a binary choice – Biden or a Republican candidate, especially if it’s Trump – a majority of the electorate will side with the Democrats.

Biden frequently quotes his father, Joseph R. Biden, in his public comments: “Joey, don’t compare me with the Almighty. Compare me with the alternative.”
