Six days after finishing in first place in the mixed relay, Lou Jeanmonnot had his own day of glory this Friday in Östersund. At 25, the Doubienne, victorious in the Östersund sprint, achieved her first World Cup success.

What a start to the season for Lou Jeanmonnot! Last weekend, for what was the first race of the season, the native of Pontarlier won the mixed relay alongside Quentin Fillon Maillet, Emilien Jacquelin and Justine Braisaz-Bouchet. Friday, Jeanmonnot once again climbed to the top of the podium, but alone this time. La Doubienne actually had her first day of glory by winning the Östersund sprint. At 25 years old and for her 45th start in the category, the French heroine of the day in biathlon at the same time unlocks her counter in the World Cup, just as she allows the Blues to double the stake after this victory in the relay mixed last Saturday, to which she had greatly contributed. First when setting off for the last relay, Jeanmonnot did not break under the pressure of the Norwegian Ingrid Tandrevold. At the cost of a perfect shot, the youngest member of the French team had even done better by increasing her lead over her pursuer.

Gilonne Guigonnat in the Top 10!

Friday, in this sprint that she could hardly have negotiated better, the young biathlete who had never done better than second in the World Cup (twice) – but never better than 9th in a sprint – again managed a without -fault on the shooting range (10 out of 10). Combined with also excellent skiing time (the 9th Friday), this first victory, obtained at the expense of two Norwegians Knotten and Arnekleiv, could not escape him. This sprint could even have ended with a French double if Sophie Chauveau, second behind her compatriot before the standing shot, had not completely collapsed (two penalty laps). On the other hand, this first victory at the highest level for Jeanmonnot inspired another Habs. Also author of a “perfect” in shooting, Gilonne Guigonnat, also aged 25 and little sister of Antonin Guigonnat, signs her first Top 10 in the World Cup (Editor’s note: There were only five in this case Friday), placing 8th in this first sprint of the season, a little less than 33 seconds behind Jeanmonnot, who enters the history of French biathlon after this success. The twelfth for the World Cup circuit for one of our representatives.
