New Delhi: Controversy over a video from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi.
A video defaming Bollywood star Deepika Padukone’s personal life has gone viral on social media. The video was heavily criticized on social media.
A reference to Deepika’s dating history in the TV show ‘Koffee with Karan’ was satirically performed by university students on stage.
‘Coming from failed relationships I wanted to be alone for a while, I didn’t want to be attached, I went through a phase where I wasn’t sincere. I enjoyed it! I didn’t commit to him (Ranveer Singh) until he proposed to me.
I had no such commitment. Deepika had said on Koffee with Karan that even though we were technically seeing other people, we would come back to each other.
‘Deepika Ki Kahani, b. H. Titled ‘Yuki Subani’, the video features prominent personalities being introduced by BHU students at college events and their pictures projected on the big screen.
In the video, a student is seen dressed up as the character Mastani from the movie ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and pictures of Deepika with different men are displayed on the screen behind the student.
But the program has faced strong criticism, The Quint reported.
Critics accused the students of committing suicide targeting only Deepika.
The video has already been viewed by more than 1.7 million people. Many people came in support of Deepika.
