Kannur: There is huge demand for Bharat rice, which is distributed by the central government at the rate of Rs 29 per kg in the public market. Yesterday, 100 quintals of rice were sold in an hour and a half at Anchampeethika in Kalyassery panchayat.
A 10 kg bag costs Rs 290. About a thousand people bought rice. The sale is conducted by local workers of BJP. On the fifth pedestal, C.V. Sumesh, P.R. Rajan, Arun Kaitapram, Rajeev Kalyassery, Sathyan Karikan, Prakashan Keechery, O.P. Ratheesh and led.
