New Delhi: A picture of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann drinking water directly from the river following being admitted to the hospital has surfaced. Criticisms are being raised in the social media that Bhagwant Mann suffered from stomach ailment due to drinking contaminated water during an event the other day.
A video of the Chief Minister drinking water from a small river surfaced last Sunday. Environmental activist and Rajya Sabha MP Baba Balbir Singh Seechawal invited the Chief Minister to the program related to river cleaning. The event marked the 22nd anniversary of the Kali Bain River Cleaning Mission.
When Bhagwant Man was offered to drink the river water full of garbage from the nearby towns, he drank it without a second thought. He said then that it is the declared policy of the Punjab government to make the rivers and streams of the state free of garbage and he considered the opportunity to drink the water of the Kali Bein river as a blessing. The people who were with him accepted the work done by Maan by clapping his hands. He was hospitalized the next day.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi sources responded that it was not drinking water from the river that made the Chief Minister sick and he only went to the hospital for a routine check-up.
