Brasil Game Show (BGS), the largest game fair in Latin America, announced the participation of Alexey Pajitnov, creator of the game Tetris, in the 14th edition of the event, which takes place from October 11th to 15th. Tetris was one of the most popular video games of all time. To date, over 520 million units of the game have been sold across over 50 platforms.
Launched in 1984, the popular puzzle game quickly became popular among players at the time, being made available on an IBM PC in 1985. In 1987, it was the turn of Pajitnov’s most famous creation to go beyond the borders of the Soviet Union reaching North America and Europe.
The game’s popularity only increased following a historic deal with Nintendo, and 1989, when Tetris became part of Nintendo’s newest Game Boy, selling over 35 million copies.
The distinguished guest will be present in the pavilions of Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo, where the fair takes place. He will participate in the opening ceremony, BGS Meet & Greet sessions, different BGS Talks panels and receive the Lifetime Achievement Award on the main stage of BGS.
Pajitnov’s special participation is celebrated by the CEO and founder of BGS, Marcelo Tavares:

The organization of the event also confirmed the participation of protagonists from Grand Theft Auto V, one of the most popular titles from Rockstar Games.
There are also other confirmed international guests, such as Nolan Bushnell, the creator of Atari, and actors Charles Martinet, Samantha Kelly and Kenny James, voice actors for Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad and the villainous Bowser in the games, respectively.
