Shannen Doherty has died following a long battle with cancer. She was 53 years old.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm that actress Shannen Doherty has passed away. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer following many years with the disease,” says colleague Leslie Sloane to the newspaper on Sunday.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones and her dog Bowie. The family is asking to be left alone at this time so they can grieve in peace,” Sloane continues.
Breakthrough in “Beverly Hills”
Doherty was born in Memphis in the American state of Tennessee, at the age of seven the family moved to Los Angeles. She made her acting debut as a ten-year-old in the series “Father Murphy”.
After the big breakthrough in “Beverly Hills” as a 19-year-old, she has, among other things, been in the series “Bewitched” and the horror film “Almost dead”.
The Beverly Hills 90210 star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.
