“Beverly Hills Cop”-Star stirbt in Colorado

John Ashton became known worldwide through the “Beverly Hills Cop” films. Now fans and relatives are in mourning: the actor has died.

For the first two parts of “Beverly Hills Cop,” John Ashton took on the role of John Taggart. There he made a name for himself alongside Eddie Murphy and Judge Reinhold. After his breakthrough in the film series, he appeared in numerous cinema and television productions. According to the online database “IMDb”, he was involved in over 200 projects.

In 2024, John Ashton was seen in the “Beverly Hills Cop” sequel “Axel F” – but now his career is coming to an abrupt end. The actor died at the age of 76.

As US media such as “Variety” and “TMZ” report, John Ashton’s manager confirmed the actor’s death. Accordingly, he died on Thursday, September 26th, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Further details about the circumstances of his death are not yet known; the American was suffering from cancer.

In a statement, John Ashton’s spokesman addressed the film star’s fans: “John leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication and care. His wife, his children, his grandchildren, his brother, his sisters, his extended family and everyone who loved him John’s impact on the world will always be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.” The family asks that donations in Ashton’s memory be made to Pathways Hospice Care, a medical facility.
