Better than Niva only UAZ: Bulgarians choose budget SUVs

The Bulgarian edition of “Facti” invited its readers to evaluate which of the budget SUVs that have long proven themselves on the market is better: Lada Niva, Suzuki Jimny or Dacia Duster. For convenience, the characteristics of three jeeps were also given. Our Lada Niva has a 1.7-liter engine with 85 horsepower, four-wheel drive and a manual transmission with rather slow gear changes. And the Japanese Suzuki has a similar gearbox and drive, a smaller engine – 1.5 liters, but a power of 101 horsepower. The Romanian Dacia is also available in 4×4 format and has a 1.5 liter diesel engine with 115 horsepower.

Bulgarian readers got into a skirmish with pleasure, and their opinion regarding our “Niva” differs significantly from the assessments other foreign readers (see also here):

“Dacia has a bigger body! But both Niva and Suzuki are super,” writes Koi68 conciliatoryly.

“Suzuki is good, but for everyday life, otherwise it is too small and does not drive well. For fishing, the Dacia remains the most practical,” Adres is sure. “But driving a Niva every day is torture, I tried it.”

“Cooler than Niva is only UAZ, cooler than UAZ (Americans think the same – ed.) – GAZ 66, cooler than GAZ 66 – “Ural”, – a fan of the Russian car industry Toz speaks.

“Lada Niva is just disgusting canned food,” Perepatil spits. “Apparently, those who praise it have never driven it. Every Niva has rust following a year, the gearbox and steering wheel stick, it’s also better to change the ignition following a year. comfort” and there is nothing to say. The only good thing regarding it is that spare parts are ridiculously cheap. Friendly advice: even if they offer Lada Niva for free – run!”

“We are talking regarding cross-country ability,” Ganyu argues with him. “And there are only four brands for cross-country ability – the Russian Lada Niva, UAZ, ZIL-157 (known as Dzhugan in Bulgaria) and the Czech Tatra. Everything else is garbage “.

“In the series, they are all more or less the same. But in terms of tuning, Suzuki has the greatest potential,” says Offchar. “The strangest thing is that Duster has good capabilities. here Niva has its only problem – “Made in Russia”.

“It was necessary to test them with the same tires and with the same driver and route,” Ime is dissatisfied. “I have an old Jimny, I don’t think the Niva is better than him. And the new Jimny also has perfect electronics. -for the center differential.

“Niva” climbed the mountain to a height of 5000 meters, it was tested in the harsh conditions of Alaska and Norway, it took first place in the most difficult rally, reminds Classics. “Jokes aside, this car has been blowing everyone’s nose since the 1970s!”

When the translation of this article appeared in the Russian edition of InoSMI, the first comment of a domestic reader was as follows:

Skytten: “Who would talk regarding cars but Bulgarians. Your destiny is a donkey and a wagon.”
