(PLO) – Barcelona manager Xavi has made a public transfer plea following Arsenal failed to bid £53m for a player considered to be better than Sergio Busquets.
Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi is a transfer target for both Arsenal and Barcelona as coach Xavi is not afraid to publicly express his admiration and fascination with the Spaniard’s qualities. Xavi even bluntly stated that Zubimendi has more qualities than Sergio Busquets.

Xavi had a conflict with the club’s leadership regarding the transfer plan to find a superstar to replace Sergio Busquets. Barca president Joan Laporta wants to sign midfielder Ruben Neves from Wolves, because he has a close relationship with Neves agent Jorge Mendes.
However, Xavi prefers Real Sociedad midfielder Zubimendi, while Barca’s sporting directors think that the club does not need a new contract in this position. They believe that Frenkie de Jong can play that role, but Xavi doesn’t think so.

During the pre-match press conference, Barca coach Xavi said: “Martin Zubimendi is a player with more physicality and faster than Busquets, who has better technique. But not only Zubimendi, all the midfielders of Real Sociedad are very good. We are going once morest a great team and Zubimendi is a great footballer.”
The Barcelona coach continued to compare the youth training facilities of the two clubs when saying: “We work the same way in grassroots football. But La Real work very well with their academy. We lack a defensive pillar who will replace Busquets in the future.”

It is reported by Spanish radio station Cadena Ser that Arsenal have sent an offer to Martin Zubimendi that might trigger his release clause at Real Sociedad. However, Zubimendi has no intention of leaving in the middle of the season.
However, the Spanish media confirmed that Martin Zubimendi would rather move to the Premier League than stay in La Liga. This might give Arsenal an edge in the long-term race once morest Barcelona.
