Betijoque | Celebrating 125 years of the Consecration of Venezuela to the Blessed Sacrament and 10 years of the episcopate of the bishop of the region

According to information from the Diocesan Vicariate for communications, in Trujillo the 125th anniversary of the Consecration of Venezuela to the Blessed Sacrament was celebrated, as well as the tenth anniversary of the elevation to bishop of the current head of the diocese of the region, Monsignor José de la Trinidad Fernández Angulo.

The information sent to the media details that the celebration was possible in the city of Trujillo, the capital of the state, with a program that included a procession from the Santa Rosa temple to the Cathedral, a demonstration of the renewal of the Consecration of Venezuela before the Blessed Sacrament, in addition to a solemn Eucharist and acts of recognition for the diocesan bishop.

It is added that there was a procession from the Santa Rosa temple to the Cathedral, renewal of the Consecration of Venezuela to the Blessed Sacrament, Solemn Eucharist and acts of recognition to the Bishop.

The first exposition of the Blessed Sacrament took place at the Santa Rosa de Trujillo Church, located in the populous sector of the state capital city, at 9 in the morning, where the priest and the parishioners had already carried out preparatory acts, as a prelude to the great event; where numerous brothers had gathered with their uniforms and white banners, characteristic of said apostolic group.

Father Francisco Linares, advisor of the Diocesan Union of the Brotherhoods of the Most Holy Sacrament, welcomed the visitors and also began the opening prayers. With the sacred host in its monstrance, under the canopy and amidst a crowd of brothers, accompanied by priests, seminarians and deacons, the fervent procession began through several streets of the city of Trujillo, until reaching the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace.

Once inside the temple, acclamations were made and songs of praise to the Blessed Sacrament were sung, before the Diocesan Bishop proceeded to direct the renewal of the Consecration of Venezuela as the Republic of the Blessed Sacrament and imparted the solemn blessing on the multitudinous assembly, which filled the Cathedral and surrounding spaces.

Priests and religious accompanied Bishop Trino Valera in the activity.

Happy and blessed double anniversary

Remember the information, that the Diocese of Trujillo united two important events on this day; the Consecration of Venezuela and the thanksgiving for the ordination of its bishop, 10 years earlier in the city of Caracas, being the actual date of the consecration of the current bishop, July 2, and the episcopal ordination on the 6th of the same month of July.

Motivated by the holding of the Assembly of the Episcopal Conference, the event was scheduled for Saturday, being prepared with great care, both by the Diocesan Union of Brotherhoods and also by the Diocesan Presbytery.

The event was attended by more than 50 priests, all the seminarians from Trujillo, 20 permanent deacons, several nuns and a little over a thousand brothers who actively participated in the events, with a harmonious ensemble of musicians who enthusiastically and fervently led the repertoire of praise and worship, as well as the liturgical songs, also singing with great emotion the National Anthem of Venezuela as the entrance song for the Holy Mass, an event that was broadcast in its entirety by the Diocesan Radio Station of the region, Paz y Chiquinquireña Radio and by the social networks of the Diocese.

Called to grow

The information also states that today we are called to grow in the awareness that we will only be the Republic of the Most Holy Sacrament when the men and women of Venezuela adhere to the person of Christ and the program of life that he proposes, to his teachings, and when that program becomes present and penetrates all dimensions of the social, economic and political life of our country; “-because a faith that does not become culture is a faith that has not been fully welcomed,” said Monsignor Trino Valera during the homily.

The Diocesan Pastor invited everyone to renew their commitment to work as a Church for reconciliation, tolerance and inclusion of all Trujillo society and Venezuela in general, using Blessed José Gregorio Hernández as a model and example. “The road is long and difficult to achieve a better Venezuela, but we must not give up on this endeavor. Let us place before the Blessed Sacrament our fate and with it the destiny of our country, always under the maternal protection of Our Lady of Peace,” said the Bishop.

Monsignor Trino Valera also expressed great joy for the tenth anniversary of his episcopal ordination, recalling the bishops of his Church, where he received the priestly vocation, Mérida and Caracas, where he exercised the priestly and episcopal ministry for years. He thanked the presbyterate, religious and lay faithful for their generous welcome, who have shown themselves to be fraternal and supportive; he asked that they continue to pray for his ministry, so that both his episcopate and that of the priests who accompany him, put into practice the fact that the Lord has chosen them to “go and bear fruit.”

Jubilation and gratitude.

The Eucharist lasted until half past one in the followingnoon, with the moment of receiving Holy Communion being particularly significant, as almost all of those present participated.

Before the final blessing, Father Francisco Linares expressed his emotional gratitude to the bishop, priests, deacons, brotherhoods and apostolic movements; he also presented gifts to the diocesan pastor, the archpriests and his brother priests, who from various ecclesiastical coordinations offered their support to the event.

On behalf of the Trujillo presbytery, Father José Gregorio Escalona, diocesan vicar for the clergy, spoke, expressing the joy of the Trujillo Church for sharing another year of the bishop’s episcopal ministry among us, highlighting his pastoral work and wishing him fruitful pastoring with the collaboration and prayer of his diocesans.

Monsignor Trino Valera received some gifts from his priests and expressed his deep gratitude to his presbyterate, deacons, religious and apostolic movements. He took the opportunity to congratulate the organizers of the event and invited them to continue the task of consolidating a diocesan Church that is increasingly united in communion and permanent evangelization.

To close the event, following the solemn blessing, the double happy birthday was sung with its respective cakes, for the 125th anniversary of the consecration of Venezuela to the Blessed Sacrament and the tenth of the episcopal ordination of the bishop, with congratulations for the Diocesan pastor of Trujillo being superfluous.
